On Tuesday 21 August in the Drawing Room at Saint Kentigern Girls’ School artists and their families attended the opening of the 2018 Visual Arts Academy Exhibition. Portrait artist, Mark Olsen, attended as well. The exhibition was then open to the public for viewing on Wednesday 22 August from 8am – 5pm and Thursday 23 August from 8am – 5pm.
This year we had 42 artists exhibiting, which was twice as many artists as exhibited at our last exhibition in 2016.
Our new initiative of writing compliments to the artists was extremely popular with all artists receiving compliments about their art works. One artist actually received 24 compliments about her art works!!!
There was 196 votes in the People’s Choice.
The winners are:
1st Place – 28 votes – Sophie Yan with her “The Family of Swans.”
Sophie is a great example of the motto “Practice Makes Perfect.” At our last exhibition in 2016 she was 6th in the People’s Choice. Since then she has attended every after school art programme and almost every holiday programme run by the Visual Arts Academy. Her artistic skills have grown and grown. At this exhibition for her 3 art works she received 36 votes which was 18% of the total votes. Well done Sophie.
2nd Equal – 10 Votes each – Victoria Tiong with her “Lucy the Minion” and Lulu Lang with her “The Cheetah.”
Thanks to everyone who exhibited in the exhibition and who came along to view the art works.
