JANUARY HOLIDAY PROGRAMME
MORNINGS: Year 1 – 8 Children – Dancing Dragons for Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year is a fun time and when we think of it we think of dragons dancing through the streets. In this class the children designed their own dragon. Using eva foam they created their dragon as a stick puppet. By using split pins it has a bendy body so that it is able to dance.
YEAR 7-8 CHILDREN ONLY – Sewing – Raggy Quilts
This is a very popular class with the Year 7 and 8 children, in which they get to make their very own raggy quilts.
Here is an example of a raggy quilt:
The quilts are at the laundromat so we will have photos for you soon.
AFTERNOONS: Year 1 – 8 Children – Sewing – Reversible Aprons
Using the theme of Aroha the children designed and created a reversible apron, either for themselves or as a gift for someone special. They appliqued their Aroha design onto the apron. They learnt pattern making, how to layer and construct their applique design, to sew on buttons, and to sew on a sewing machine.
Here are the finished applique reversible aprons. Wouldn’t you love to receive one of these as a gift:
